After the most recent meeting of the Council of Elders and the internal deliberations on Monday, the SPD parliamentary group is satisfied with the compromise proposal on the package of measures in the city center, as it is to be adopted in the council meeting on Wednesday. Essential demands from the SPD's “5-point plan for Bocholt” can be found again. In addition to the planning of events that will be hosted by Bocholt restaurateurs, a concept for digital trade in Bocholt is also to be worked on.
Work is now in progress on an application for third-party funding. In addition, the Bocholt voucher campaign will be repeated, in which the city is contributing 300.000 euros. Although this amount is well below the required 1.000.000 euros of the SPD, it is a good compromise, since alternative proposals with only 100.000 euros of municipal funding were discussed in advance. The funds could be supplemented by a good € 500.000 from BEW's “WattExtra” bonus program, whose customers can now also redeem their bonus points to vouchers of € 200 in the 223 points of acceptance of the Bocholt voucher.
