The victims of the tornado in Herold Street can expect no financial help from the city. "It's up to the insurance companies," said First Councilor Thomas Waschki now in the Council meeting after a request from the Social List clearly. However, the city has made its contribution to support those affected as much as possible. Waschki reported hours of use by fire brigade and the regulatory office in the storm night. Also on the next day there was still extensive cleanup.
Asked by Bärbel Sauer how it could be ensured in the future that the citizens would also be warned by the city of Bocholt, Waschki shrugged. Predicting local weather events accurately is simply impossible, he noted.
